Feeling HOT, HOT, HOOOOOOOOOTTTTTT....again

Hello everyone,

Long time, no speak!!! The Emery's hope you are all well and in good health!

It has been a little while since we posted something, so here we go! Back in June '08 on our blog, we wrote about the hot weather here....and for those of you that thought we all live in igloos in Canada...think again!!!

The province of Ontario (Kitchener is in Ontario, where we live by the way) is caught in the middle of a heatwave, and has been for the past two weeks. Temperatures have been in the high 20's to mid 30's, and factor in the humidity in Canada, then temperatures feel a lot hotter.

For example, today (Thursday 21st July), Brian got into his car to drive to work at 6:45am EST (Eastern Standard Time) and the temperature gauge was already at 27 degrees Celsius with a humidex reading of 34 degrees!!!

Today's temperature is set to break records....well for all you naysayers out there, here is our local paper (online of course), The Record which explains all:

So, we are trying to keep cool, got the AC (Air Conditioning) cranked up at home and work!

Phew, what a hot one!

Take care folks and keep cool (well, the keep cool part was for some of you, not all.)

Until the next time........

Home Hockey

Hello folks,

Happy new year to you and all that stuff.

Our good friend and neighbour (Darren) organized a sub-division get together (a sub-division is a neighbourhood here) and organize the building of a skating / hockey rink at the back of our house in the park...crazy, eh?

The skating rink is 120 feet by 80 feet...bloody huge!! All the parents in the area contacted the City of Kitchener to get permission to build this, they also got the fire department to flood the surface, and also the neighbours did this in their spare time as well. All the kids and parents in the sub division come to skate during the week after school and work.

Have a look below:

And here is a close up shot of the guys playing hockey:

Like football is for the English, hockey is CANADA!!!

Until the next post (don't hold your breath), the Emery's are signing off!
